Reminder for people who don’t need visa for the Schengen area

The Schengen countries authorities want to remind, to the foreign citizens, the European regulation related to the entry in the European territory.

Bruneian citizens can enter the Schengen countries without visa for a short stay up to 90 days. Nevertheless the exemption of visa does not give to the travellers an automatic right to enter Schengen area. The entry depends on a decision of the immigration police who can ask to be presented the following documents:

- proof of lodging
- proof of sufficient means for the duration of the stay
- itinerary of the journey and airway ticket back to the travellers’ residence abroad

The Schengen countries authorities want to point out that traveller need to hold those documents when entering the Schengen area.

IMPORTANT : With effective from 19 July, 2013, all travellers entering the Schengen countries MUST comply with the new rules which are as follows:

1. The issuance date of the traveller’s passport MUST NOT be more than 10 years before the date of entry into the Schengen States

2. The validity of the traveller’s passport MUST BE more than 3 months after the date of exit from the Schengen States

NOTE : This applies to all travellers INCLUDING the citizens of countries that DO NOT require visa to enter Schengen States. ( for examples : Brunei (red passport), Singapore, Malaysia etc..)*]
