French Embassy celebrates Bastille Day

The French Embassy in Brunei Darussalam hosted a reception at The Empire Hotel & Country Club on 12 July to celebrate the 230th French National Day or Bastille Day on Friday 12 July.

The guest of honour was Minister of Health Dato Dr Haji Mohd Isham and he was accompanied by his spouse, Datin Dr Hajah Noraslinah. The ceremony began with the singing of the national anthems of Brunei Darussalam and France by primary students of Stella’s School.

Ambassador of France to Brunei Darussalam Christian Ramage highlighted that France is also celebrating the 130th birthday of Eiffel Tower, and by celebrating this event the French embassy commemorated the 230th anniversary of the French Revolution.

Key government officials, members of the foreign Diplomatic Corps, members of the French Brunei Business Association, and representatives from French companies based in Brunei were also present. Guests were treated to authentic French cuisines served throughout the reception.
