Celebration of French Bastille Day 11th July 2017
The Bastille day was celebrated this year in two steps, on July 6 for the French community and on July 11 for the officials.
The ceremony of 11 July was graced by the Guest of Honour Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, Dato Seri Setia Paduka Haji Ali Apong.
The French Embassy had the pleasure to count Pehin Datu Laila Raja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi, Minister of Culture Youth and Sports as one of our distinguished guests. There were also senior officials of the Armed Forces General Staff, permanent secretaries of many ministries, diplomatic corps, directors of major French, Chinese and local companies, members of the French Bruneian Business Association (FBBA) as well as civil society leaders.
The Ambassador’s speech focused on the excellent relations between the two countries in all areas, including defense cooperation between DCI (Defense Council International) and the Royal Brunei Navy, the activities of Total, the French Bruneian Business Association (FFBA) and the Alliance française
The Ambassador also expressed her gratitude and encouragement to the local authorities for their commitment to protecting the environment and to implementing the Paris Climate Agreement.
